Tutorial Video for Tillery: PowerPoint “How To” Basics:

I think this video is helpful for students because it is showing how to do the basics for a program. I noticed that this video is from quite a few years ago but I think it would be helpful for students and teachers to do a how-to for the different Google Programs that most schools use. It would help with the constant questions as a teacher with how to do different things in the programs.

New Arrivals, April 2012:

I think this video is one students will like. I think it is one where you can share new things that the library has to offer for students and staff. It is a quick video to get the students attention with a fun short video.

PHS Financial Aid Workshop 2013:

I’m going to be honest I didn’t watch the whole video but I skimmed through to have an understanding of all that was overviewed. I think this is the most helpful for students. I think this would be great for juniors and seniors to go through. First as a live and have it recorded so that students and parents can go back and rewatch or provide the slideshows and extra resources that you talk about. Financial Aid and just talks about how to afford college is a hard subject and there is so much out there that you don’t know and can learn. I would have loved something like this when I was looking and doing school.

Movie on 2012 12 17 at 21 32:

I think students would like this type of video. I think hearing what other students experiences are and won’t feel so fresh out of water. You can learn from others experiences and can learn what you need to do to succeed through someone who just went through it or is going through the experience.

6th Media Orientation:

I think this would be helpful for students. It would be helpful because it is giving an overview of what the library looks like and where to find things in the library. It is a great way for students to watch without having the students in the library when you are not seeing students. This would be great for my district as we don’t see students every week. I think this would be a great thing as a librarian to make sure everything is talked about and you don’t forget anything.

Belle – Beauty & the Beast – Overdue Library Book Parody:

I think students would like these videos the most. It is a fun way to get your point across to make sure students understand. They will remember it because of the fun tune to go with it. It is also fun because there are fellow student in the video which is also fun to see for each student.

Animoto:

What is Animoto? Animoto is a place that make video creations quick and easy, so anyone can drag drop their way to videos.

Making my video in Animoto was a little difficult. Everything I wanted to do was with PRO. I think if you use it a lot it maybe worth the price to get a membership. I think I would probably stick with Canva since I have used that platform for other things besides a video.

QR Codes:

What is a QR Code? A QR code consists of black squares and dots which represent different pieces of information. When scanned, the unique pattern on the barcode translates into a website.

I think I would use the QR Codes in my library with different videos that I could present to students. I could also do some type of scavenger hunt where they will use the QR code to go to trivia questions.

  1. I really enjoyed your book trailer as you included reviews from the NY Times, Washington Post, and the American Library Association which was a good way to show that this book is well loved. I also enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast Overdue Library book video as I chose that exact one. QR codes are really easy and I like the ideas that you have for incorporating them into your library.

  2. Hi Courtney, your book trailer was fantastic! I really liked the buildup of the music throughout the trailer and it was so interesting that you added the positive professional reviews at the end. Someone else in the class also did a book trailer on The Crossover so it seems that this may be a book I need to check out. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Courtney,

You made a comment about posting recorded “live” videos that caught me nodding my head! You’re not wrong!

Especially on things that offer information, videos about classes, appointments/dates, to dos… it could be really useful to record and post ALL the things!
