Final Reflection

 

    The summer class has come to an end. This class had some challenges that I didn’t even know existed. The class definitely got me out of my comfort zone. I learned so many different technology aspects that I can use in my future library and even the classroom for this year. 

 

    There was so many things that I got excited for with technology. I think overall the ones that I thought were great were the infographics and comics. I like these particular lessons because I think you can be so creative in the different creations you want to make. You can make things for yourself to present to students that would be engaging and having the students want to read and look at the presentations. You can also have the students create the different presentations that could go with a concept they learned in the library or a concept that they learned in one of their core classes. 

 

    I think the most difficult activity was the UDL floor-plan. This one was first difficult because I did not have access to the library to measure the different bookcases and tables to make sure everything was as accurate as possible. It was  also difficult because I was learning how to use the website of the Thinglink. There was a lot of trial of error as I was working through the different parts. I may have had to start over a couple of times because I would totally mess up and the best thing I could do was begin again. I still feel like it is not finished. Once I get into the library I can figure out dimensions so that I could add those to my floor plan to be more accurate. I want to add more UDL information in each section of the library to make sure that I’m having the library accessible to everyone. 

 

    I think the one that would be the most useful for students is YouTube. I think the best thing I could do for students to make sure that they know everything I want for students to do is to make “how to” videos of different things in the library. I would also like to do it for things in the classroom with concepts or doing a re-teach that students can watch during small group time when I’m with a reading group at the back table. There are so many different things that I can take to the library and classroom to bring more technology in my future library and classroom more often.
